T’keyah Ware – Aboriginal Artist
T’keyah Ware is a Yankunytjatjara, Kokatha, Wirangu and Narungga Aboriginal artist born in Port Augusta and raised in Ceduna on Wirangu Country in South Australia.
She began painting as a teenager, learning alongside her mother, contemporary Aboriginal artist Kelly Taylor. Growing up within a family of artists, T’keyah developed a deep connection to painting as a way of sharing cultural knowledge, family stories and memories of life on Country.
Today T’keyah’s artworks are collected by private collectors across Australia and internationally.
Family Legacy
T’keyah paints alongside her mother Kelly Taylor and sisters Taliyah and Kelilah Ware, continuing a powerful three-generation family tradition of Aboriginal storytelling through art.
This artistic legacy began with her great-grandmother Molly Terone Lennon and grandmother Millie Taylor (née Lennon), whose cultural knowledge and stories continue to guide the family’s creative practice today.
Artistic Style
T’keyah’s paintings are vibrant and expressive, combining contemporary colour palettes with traditional Aboriginal dot painting techniques. Her work often depicts scenes of family life on Country, including hunting, gathering bush foods, travelling across the land and spending time together with community.
Through colour, movement and symbolism, her paintings reflect journeys across Country and the connections between people, land and culture.
Connection to Country
T’keyah’s artworks are inspired by stories passed down through generations within her family. These stories reflect memories of travelling across Country, gathering traditional foods and maintaining cultural traditions connected to land and family.
Painting allows T’keyah to continue these traditions while expressing her own creative voice as part of the next generation of Aboriginal artists within the KT Aboriginal Fine Art collective.
